Inverted Hopper

Our first project of Mechanical Engineering was to build a hopper. My version of the hopper included dowels and tubbing to act as the elastic force to drive the hopper up. The image on the right is a final version of the hopper pulled apart to show all components. There was cardboard, 3D printed MDF, dowels and rubber tubing.

Previous versions used balloons for the elastic capability.

Walker

The second half of the course focused on building a walker, climber, or swimmer mechanism. My group comprised of 3 others decided to create a climber but after the finding difficulty in the implementation of creating the climber we switched to a walker.

Here is the climber we attempted to make and video of it somewhat working. We found it difficult finding a way for the climber to grab onto the steps to pull itself and with a time constraint we switch over to the walker as shown on the right.
